Important Updates
New design, new writers, more ambition.
Hey, Justin here, and welcome to Just Go Grind, a newsletter sharing the lessons, tactics, and stories of world-class founders! Premium subscribers get full access to this newsletter, exclusive events, event discounts, and more.

The last few weeks have been tough.
My dad passed away on January 19th after more than a month in the hospital.
I’ve taken a lot of time away from work because of it.
Nobody prepares you for losing a parent, but I feel incredibly grateful for the love and support of family and friends these past few weeks.
I also realize just how grateful I am for the book The Daily Stoic which I’ve read daily for years (And share daily on my Instagram stories) and continues to be valuable as I’ve gone through the ups and downs of life.
While the last few weeks have been challenging, I’ve slowly started to get back into my work routine again and have some updates for you.
First, long-time readers will notice the new design of this newsletter.
I worked with Ricky and his team at Pixels on the redesign and am very happy with how it turned out. I can’t recommend them enough - they’re great.
I’ve got grand ambitions for Just Go Grind and this was a big first step in upping the quality of the product. I hope you like it! More updates on the design coming soon.
Second, I hired a full-time writer.
I want this newsletter, and media company more broadly, to be “The home of ambition,” inspiring and educating ambitious founders, operators, and investors to help them do their best work.
I realized a while back that I can’t do this alone.
My new writer, Erika, will be starting this week. I’m so excited to have her join me and offer more valuable insights and stories for you.
Third, I’m hiring freelance writers.
I’ll also be working with some new writers to bring you more stories and insights.
When I posted last week on social media about hiring freelance writers for Just Go Grind the response was incredible. I had more than 100 writers apply and I’m still reviewing applications.
If you’re interesting in writing for Just Go Grind, apply here.
I’d especially love to work with writers who have contributed previously to companies like Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, The Information, TechCrunch, Forbes, Fortune, The New York Times, etc.
I’m also interested in working with founders and operators who can share tactical breakdowns and actionable insights related to company-building.
Fourth, I raised a small amount of money from Chisos Capital.
I’ve known Will, the founder of Chisos Capital, for more than a year and I’m fascinated by what he’s building.
The vision I have for Just Go Grind has evolved greatly in the past two years and I knew I’d need some capital to make it a reality.
Late last year I finalized a small investment from Will’s firm, an important step in the growth of Just Go Grind, and I’m seriously considering raising a larger amount in a few months (message me if interested).
Finally, the Just Go Grind podcast is coming back.
This has been on my mind for months. I miss podcasting and feel like it’s one of the things I can do that’s uniquely me that adds value to other people’s lives.
I’ve got my first two guests booked, a couple of incredible founders, and I’m so excited to get this thing rolling again.
I’m open to a wide variety of guests, focusing on those who have incredible stories and insights to share, but will especially be focused on venture-backed founders of Series B and beyond startups and bootstrapped founders doing millions a year in annual revenue.

I’m looking for amazing sponsors for this newsletter, the podcast, and events I host in LA and SF.

I’m always open to custom sponsorship packages as well and I’m looking for long-term partners who understand the value of long-term relationships.

In the past nearly two years, I’ve written dozens of deep dives on world-class founders, sharing how they built their companies. These typically take 20-30 hours to research and write. The most recent ones are below:
